When Do We Judge Angels? | Q&A

Question: 

1st Corinthians 6:3 talks about believers judging angels. Are there any other verses in Scripture about how and when this would take place?

Answer: 

In 1 Corinthians 6:3 the Apostle reminds the Corinthian believers that it was beneath their dignity as saints to appeal to the world’s judges for resolution of their struggles with each other. After all, they were to be judges. It is not necessary for us to know the time, the place, or the occasion of this judgment. It does not seem to be important enough for God to give us specific additional information about it. 

That said, we do have a mention in Jude 6 of the judgment of angels: “And angels who had not kept their own original state, but had abandoned their own dwelling, he keeps in eternal chains under gloomy darkness, to the judgment of the great day.” Our relationship to the Lord Jesus as His bride (2 Cor 11:2; Eph 5:27; Rev 19:7.) gives us the position of co-regent with Him. Other verses show that we shall sit with Him on His throne (Ps 45:6-9; Neh 2:6) and come with Him in judgment (Rev 19:14). Given the fact that we will reign with Him, it is not surprising that we should be joined with Him in such judgment. However, there is no explicit reference that I know of that tells us anything more about the judgment of angels mentioned in Corinthians.
